Craigmark v Talbot Match Report.

The match report of Talbot’s second pre-season friendly can be found on the Match Results page. Interesting game which the midges were definately the winners.
The website editor requested a wee article regarding the front cover design of the testimonial match programme on Sunday.
I was asked to design it and have created a very graphic retro cover that is a wee bit different. We all know that the Talbot programme is widely accepted as one of the best for content, it has came close over the last few years in the award stakes. However, content aside, perhaps a more radical make over of the design could be the final piece in the jigsaw for the popular and quality publication. The cover integrates the two distinctive strips, traditional shirts that go back in some shape or form to the 50s and in Talbots case the 40s. It also suggests a bond between two of Ayrshires biggest football institutions, I know many Killie fans who have a soft spot for Talbot and vise versa. It would be interesting to hear fans views on this and would it be good to adopt a similar or new cover for the home match programmes for the coming season.
A one off framed high quality archival art print of the cover will be for sale in the memorabilia shop soon. All proceeds going to the BRC.
FOOTNOTE FROM WEBMASTER: We are aware that Eugene got the date wrong but that has been sorted for the match edition.

Talbot will embark on their second pre-season match with a visit to Craigmark Burntonians on Wednesday evening. The match kicks off a Station Park at 7pm and Talbot will no doubt be running the rule over a number of trialists. Craigmark manager John Redford will be hopeful that there is not a repeat of last seasons match where Talbot ran out 9-0 winners.
It’s hoped that the match will provide a good run out before Talbot face a strong Kilmarnock side in the LSY Testimonial game this Sunday.
Talbot let set for a collision course with Beith after the preliminary round draw was held. Talbot travel to Wigton while Beith face Newton Stewart. Wigton play in the South of Scotland League where they finish 3rd last season.
The draws for the 2016/17 William Hill Scottish Cup first and second preliminary rounds were made at the Coldstream Museum this evening.
The museum is currently running an exhibition called ‘Frontiers: The Berwickshire Football Story’ which covers the history of the game in the area.
The draw also marked the 125th anniversary of Coldstream FC, who were involved in today’s proceedings, drawing Leith Athletic in preliminary round two.
Scotland internationalist and Hibernian Ladies captain Joelle Murray, who features in the exhibition, helped make the draw, alongside the Scottish FA president, Alan McRae, and the Coldstream Museum assistant curator, Andrew Tulloch.
Preliminary round one draw:
Edusport Academy v Colville Park
Newtown Stewart v Beith Juniors
Wigtown and Bladnoch v Auchinleck Talbot
Glasgow University v Bonnyrigg Rose
St Cuthbert Wanderers v Leith Athletic
Ties to be played on Saturday, 13 August 2016.
Preliminary round two draw:
St Cuthbert Wanderers/Leith Athletic v Coldstream
Glasgow University/Bonnyrigg Rose v Burntisland Shipyard Amateurs
Edusport Academy/Colville Park v Girvan
Newtown Stewart/Beith Juniors v Wigtown and Bladnoch/Auchinleck Talbot
Threave Rovers v Linlithgow Rose
Bank’s O’Dee v Golspie Sutherland
Ties to be played on Saturday, 3 September 2016.
Talbot are pleased to announce the signing of 21 year old defender Grant Drummond. Grant spent most of his career with Airdrieonians leaving them in 2015. He started off in the youth set up before being offered a full time contract. Grant played 11 times for the Diamonds including three games against Rangers. He had a superb match against Newtongrange which prompted Tommy Sloan to sign him after the match. Welcome to Beechwood Grant.
The squad was also boosted by the news that Steven White has extended his contract meaning the popular midfielder will be playing into his testimonial season. Steven has been immense for the club after coming back from a horror injury. He stepped up to the mark when Mark Campbell’s season was ended against Hurlford and Whitey took over in the centre of the Talbot defence.
