James calls it a day

Auchinleck Talbot FC are sad to announce that club captain James Latta has left the Auchinleck Talbot by mutual consent. James, a tremendous servant goes with our very best wishes for the future.

From James himself.

Thanks for all the comments. Gutted to be leaving but time to move on. I will be taking with me loads of great memories from my 13 years with the club. I have won everything there is to win in junior football, more than a few times (too many to mention). It will be hard for me not to be involved with Talbot after being at the club for so long and also staying around the corner from Beechwood. But I need to move on to get a chance at regular football for the last few years I have got left in me. I would like to thank all at Auchinleck Talbot, fans and committee for supporting me over the years. It’s been an honour to play for and captain the most successful club in junior football.
Thanks
James

U19’s – Troon 4 Auchinleck Talbot 6
Talbot returned to league duty on Sun day with a visit to Portland Park to take on Troon. It was a very open,
end to end first 20 minutes before Talbot took the lead through Speirs. 10 minutes later it was 2-0, with Laird
grabbinic the goal. Talbot were well in control at this stage, until a cross to the back post was misjudged by
the Talbot defence and Troon made it 2-1. Talbot continued to press and got a third goal thanks to a 25 yard
strike from McClung. Right on halftime, a free kick into the box was headed home by the Troon player,
making it 3-2. Five minutes into the second half Talbot take a 4-2 lead through Dempsey. Then on 65
minutes, a great passing move through the length of the pitch resulted in McClung tapping in his second of
the game. But straight from kick off Troon score again to make it 5-3. Then a mix up with a Talbot defender
and the goalkeeper resulted in another goal from Troon with 10 minutes to go. But with 5 mins remaining, a
great long pass from Crout sent Dempsey clear to make it 6-4 to Talbot at full time.

2003 – Cunninghame 1 Auchinleck Talbot 3
This was a hard fought win for Talbot, making it four from four this season. The Talbot boys had a free week
last week and it showed as they took their time to get themselves in front. The pitch didn’t help the situation
however as it was very narrow and bumpy. Nicolas Jakab put Talbot 1-0 up at half time after clever footwork
and a brilliant curling finish across the keeper into the bottom corner. In the second half, Cunninghame hit
back through bad decision making at the back making it 1-1. A change in personnel brought fresh legs and
desire into the Talbot side. They got their second through Zak Smith after a great through ball from Michael
Kane. Talbot went on to add a third after good hold up play from Callum Walker showing his strength and
laying it off to Keelan Stakim who found Nicolas Jakab for his second. Cunninghame were reduced to 10
men soon after, nearing the end of the game. Special mention to Bradley “the hitman” Harte who after
months out through injury made his comeback.
Joint man of the match: Nicolas Jakab with 2 goals and Keelan Stakim for winning everything in the
midfield and driving the boys forward.                                                                                                                                                                                                 2006 – Only one team with 9 boys available for the 06’s this week. Talbot were away to Galston who kindly
agreed to play one of their teams in the first half and the other in the second. Talbot started off not too bad
with some good football at times. As the game went on the boys struggled a bit and basic errors were
happening far too often. The second game was much the same although Talbot did manage two fantastic
goals from TJ Graham and Mason McNeillie which showed what the team could have done had they not put
their heads down after conceding a couple of goals. Unfortunately Talbot didn’t do themselves justice in this
game and the lack of numbers was always going to go against them. A bit of picking the boys up to be done
and and some work in training. On a positive note there was still some hard graft from a few and some really
pleasing football to watch at times from the Talbot boys.
2007 – A home game for the lads on Saturday against Cambusdoon. Talbot were playing in their new kit for
the first time and the football they played at times looked just as good as they did. Talbot started the game on
the front foot, piling on the pressure with some cracking forward play, using the full width of the pitch.
Cambusdoon’s goalkeeper deserves a mention as he was pulling off save after save. A quick break and slight
lack of concentration at the back let Cambusdoon up the field and they scored a good goal from distance into
the bottom corner. This didn’t affect the Talbot players though as they continued to play the same excellent
football and started to take their opportunities. The players were playing their first game in predominantly
new positions, and the desire shown was excellent. Some lovely quick passing and movement was causing
havoc along with sturdy defending, refusing to let the opposition through. Into the second half and it was one
way traffic for the most part. Again, Talbot were relentlessly piling on the pressure and put a few chances
away. Talbot’s speed of attack was really good for most of the match. A bit of work is required on making
slightly quicker decisions at times in the final third but this will come. The team have progressed well this
year and attitudes and desire are becoming better as this has been letting them down at times. When they
work hard, they are a joy to watch. Special mention this week goes to Shawn Blackmore for his aggressive
tackling and forward passing. The team would like to thank their new kit sponsor S2 Partnership Ltd for their
support.
2008 – No game.
2009 – Busy day for the 2009 boys playing in 2 sessions at Prestwick. A really slow start from the boys with
clear signs of them struggling to get up to pace with the other teams. They grew into each game and by the
time the second session came the boys were really up for it. There was some good play and goals from all
over the pitch. It was hard to single any one individual out but Robbie Young’s first touch was excellent. This
allowed him create space for himself and others with ease.
2010 – Will start playing games this coming Sunday. The team would like to thank their new kit sponsor
Boss Groundworks for their support.
2011 – Will also start playing games this coming Sunday. The team would like to thank their new kit sponsor
McTaggart Group for their support.
The 2012’s are training well. Their new training kit has been ordered and the kids are really enjoying
themselves.

Talbot youth Academy Reports

U19’s Bonnyton 2 Auchinleck Talbot 4

Talbot were away to Bonnyton in the Scottish Cup first round in wet and windy conditions. Bonnyton started the game quicker and took an early lead. Talbot grew into the game and started to pin Bonnyton into their own half. The equaliser came from a free kick into the box that a Bonnyton defender put past his own keeper.

Talbot then took control and added goals from Campbell and another OG to lead 3-1 at half time. Talbot continued to dominate the second half without adding to the scoring. Talbot GK Rooney produced a great save to keep it at 3-1, but Bonnyton scored from the resulting corner, 3-2.

Bonnyton finished the stronger, and were doing everything to send the game into extra time, but in injury time Speirs broke away to make it 4-2 and win the game, and seal a trip to Troon Thistle in round two.

2003 – Free week

2006 – Both teams were at home against Dreghorn. Tigers faced Dreghorn BC. The first half went really well with some determined play from our boys and we finished at half time deservedly a goal to the good. The second half didn’t start quite so well and we found that instead of Dreghorn coaches taking their turn to referee the game, the boys were doing it themselves. Talbot lost a very poor penalty decision made by the Dreghorn boys which turned a very good and determined game of football into an ill tempered affair. The

game finished level which was a fair result and happy to see our boys can get stuck in when things get tough.

Ugly side of boy’s football for this game but our boys conducted themselves well.

Talbot Boswell were up against it from the off against a strong Dreghorn 2006 team whose central midfielder controlled the game. Tigers marked him closely but Dregorn dominated with sharp passing which tired a chasing Boswell. Boswell showed their capability towards the end of the first half with crisp passes opening up the Dreghorn defence but to no success. Boswell were kept in it a number of times by great saves by the keeper. Fitness and passing remain our focus during training for next week.

2007 – Game postponed away at Girvan due to a waterlogged pitch.

2008 – Blacks v Dean Thistle. The team were looking to build on the momentum from last week’s positive result against a strong Caledonian team. Talbot dominated from start to finish, kept possession well, played very good football at times and were rewarded with goals for their efforts. Special mention to Evan Bishop, he moved the ball about well, got his name on scoresheet, kept his work rate up for the full duration of the game and lead by example as captain for the day.

Yellow V Dean Thistle. A fast start to the game saw Talbot take control of the first 15 minutes, attacking from the beginning but couldn’t capitalise on their dominance. Dean Thistle then took hold of the half and never looked back. Dominating the rest of the half and taking their chances. In the second half a different Talbot team showed up. More fight and determination gave Talbot that push to dominate in the second half as they piled on the pressure getting plenty of shots off but couldn’t capitalise and were unfortunate in the

end.  Special shoutout to Douglas Schendel for his effort.

2009 – It was a good performance from the boys on Sunday at the Super Fives. They started well in the first game and stayed competitive in an even match. They had a really good second game, scoring goals and didn’t concede. Their last two games were very competitive and the boys acquitted themselves very well. We had four boys who have hardly played all summer so really pleasing. Young Darryl Templeton was fantastic at the back winning everything, and to cap it all he scored a cracking goal from nearly the halfway line.

Really pleased as we played the games against very good teams.
