HALL OF FAME INDUCTION & DANCE 2017

Cammy Hitchell and Hugh Lyden we’re inducted into the Auchinleck Talbot FC Hall of Fame at a Special Function in the Talbot Social Club last Saturday. Colin Chisholm welcomed all in attendance and gave a brief summary of both player’s careers before handing over to Billy Young who spoke in depth of his experiences playing beside both legends. A great night was enjoyed by all and the Club wishes to thank all when supported the event.

This Saturdays friendly match against Annbank has been switched to New Pebble Park, Annbank with a 2pm kick off.

Ross Harvey was voted player of the year by the Affleck Club due to the popular big defenders outstanding season at Beechwood Park. Ross who joined Talbot from Australian Club Geelong was presented with a trophy and a cheque from the Affleck Club’s oldest member Bill Clelland.

Ex-Talbot player Jimmy Ferguson was awarded the prestigious John “Speedy” Davidson award for his work outwith the Talbot committee. The award was gifted to the club by the wife and family of the late John Davidson who was programme editor for a number of seasons as well as fanatical supporter. Jimmy was picked for the award due to his work around Beechwood Park as well as helping with the playing kit. Jimmy is pictured by John’s widow Janice and his sister Libby.

AUCHINLECK TALBOT UNDER 19S

Congratulation so our Under 19s who recently won the Land O’ Burns Trophy at Rozelle Park, Ayr. The players who accomplished this magnificent achievement will parade the Trophy prior to Saturday’s match versus Hurlford United.

U19’s – Talbot 1 Irvine Thistle 4

First game of the new season and Talbot had 5 players missing with injury or illness but started well and went on the attack from the start and had a penalty claim turned down in the first couple of minutes and continued to dominate play for the first 20 25 mins without taking our chances Irvine scored against the run of play then added a second a few minutes later. Logan Campbell scored a stunning free kick on 40 mins to pull one back for Talbot then just before half time bailey McClung came close to equalizing with another free kick but struck the post so 1-2 Irvine at half time.  Talbot came out in the second half pushing for an equaliser but a miskick from Talbot keeper went straight to the Irvine forward to make it 1-3 Irvine. Talbot continued to create chances without getting any breaks in front of goal in the second half. Irvine added a fourth late on to make the final score Auchinleck Talbot 1-4 Irvine Thistle.

 

2003 – Talbot 11-2 Stewarton

 

A good win to start off the new season as the boys showed what they can do this year. The passing and moving all over the pitch and the fight, determination and effort was fantastic. The boys have their local derby game on Saturday vs Knockroon.

2007 – Excellent start to the new season for the boys away at Prestwick. The work rate was unbelievably good. Prestwick are a fantastic side but Talbot dug in and made it really difficult for their opponents, defending really well. When they got the ball, Talbot played some lovely football, creating great opportunities. It was an excellent team performance from the lads. Caches are very pleased. Keep it up boys. Special mentions go to Alistair Miller and Josh Hamilton for great effort and enthusiasm and making it very hard for the opposition.

 

2009 – First weekend back at Prestwick after the summer break for the 2009 boys with no goalkeepers at our disposal due to holidays. The boys that stood in for them did really well. A little bit off the pace but results were still pleasing and some nice flashes of the football team we can be we’re shown. A special mention for Finlay Ralphs who’s shooting is improving all the time and goals of late from right wing really help the team.

THE JOHN DAVIDSON AWARD 2017

The worthy winner of the John Davidson Award for outstanding Service to the Club during season 2016/17 is Jimmy Ferguson. Jimmy who organizes the playing kit for our games, along with various ground staff duties will be presented with the award prior to the Hurlford United game at Beechwood Park on Saturday 26 August by John’s wife Janice and sister Elizabeth.
