TALBOT 1909 GOLF EVENT

Auchinleck Talbot FC wishes to thank Andy Mathieson, Ewan Loy, Davy Hannah, Shane Muir Jnr, John Murdoch and Dick Easterbrook most sincerely for their superb effort in organising yet another successful Talbot 1909 Golf Event, also a special mention for Kim from Lexus Glasgow for the nice touch with the Lexus Prize, and Jimmy Dunsmore for arranging the Hole Sponsors. We also wish to thank everyone who participated, sponsored, donated to or supported this event.

After receiving a draw in the first round Talbot will host WOSL League One side Blantyre Victoria on Saturday the 16th September. The Vics are managed by former Talbot player John Gibson who took the “Blues” to a respectable 5th place in the league last season. The winners of this match will progress to the all-in third round. The trophy is currently held by Spartans.

Tucker made his third signing of the season after bagging Rutherglen Glencairn defender Scott Schoneville who will be ready to join the club when his contract expires in July.  The 24 year old was recently picked as MOTM in this season’s Scottish Junior Cup final against our old rivals Cumnock. For his young age Scott has been around the lower WOSL with Thorniewood, Lanark and Lesmahagow as well as being on the books with Airdrie United as a youngster. Everybody at Beechwood is set to welcome Scott to the Talbot and cannot wait to see him in the stripes.

FUNDRAISING CLUB DAY – Saturday 17^th June 2023

This unique annual event defines what makes Auchinleck Talbot so special and underlines the strong bond between the club, the fans, and sponsors. It serves as a reminder of the esteemed place the club has within the village.

The social club was jam packed for this year’s event acknowledging the efforts of the players and their achievements during the past season where they lifted the West of Scotland League Cup, finished runners up in the league and had another successful run in the senior Scottish Cup.

The fundraising club has for years played in a pivotal role in providing funds to sign new players and extend the contracts of current players. New members are welcome and can join by paying £10/month (for 10months) or a one-off payment of £100 – contact Henry Dumigan 07929 525494 or Bobby Millar 07771 508907 if you wish to join.

 

Ross Taylor, Chris Stafford & Keir Samson joined the day’s celebrations, and each received awards acknowledging and thanking them for their efforts. All three players have now left the club and they do so with the warm wishes of everyone at Auchinleck Talbot.

Morton Wright presented Andy Devlin with an award to thank him for his sterling service to the club. Talbot have released pictures of their 2023/24 first team kit which has seen a massive thumbs up from the fans. The new kit which is described   as a much lighter colour as last season’s highly sought after shirt will be on sale this Saturday between 2-5pm at the Talbot Social Club. Adult shirts are priced at £40 with childrens set at £30. Why not pop along and get your hands on the first edition.

Talbot were drawn away to League 3 side Port Glasgow in the recent Indigo Comms West of Scotland Cup after receiving a bye in the first round. The game will take place on Saturday the 21st October 2023 with a 2pm kick-off at the “Undertakers” Parklea Community Sports Facility. It seems strange to think that it’s nearly eight year since we last paid a visit to Parklea when we enjoyed a 4-0 Scottish Junior Cup win over our hosts on the 24th January 2015 with Campbell,  Spence,  Gormley and Shankland doing the damage.

The draw threw up some cracking first round ties with Cumnock hosting Troon and Benburb travelling to Beith. In the second round the draw was rather more mundane with the big guns staying well apart.
