Talbot were quick off the mark in announcing a decent pre-season schedule before the 2025/26 campaign goes into full swing. They face daunting trips to Lowland League sides Linlithgow Rose and Clydebank while taking on the local first division sides in the remaining fixtures.
The friendlies kick off with the visit of Kilbirnie Ladeside to Beechwood on the 7th July with a 2pm start. The “Blasties” are currently managed by Ex-Talbot player Colin Spence who is backed up by another Ex-Talbot favourite Willie Lyle. A right pair of legends who will be looking forward to a return to a ground where they were worshipped.
On Wednesday the 9th of July Talbot travel to Irvine to take on the Meadow with a 7.30 kick off. With the Talbot well in advance in their signings it will give Meadow manager Jamie McKim a chance to try out his new players as the Meadow battle to get back amongst the top flight once again.
Saturday the 12th of July has Talbot on the road to Lowland League side Linlithgow Rose who we had many a ding dong battle with during their time in the Juniors including two Scottish Cup finals where both sides have a share of the bragging rights. The Rose finished a creditable fifth in last season’s Lowland League as well as winning the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup beating Dunbar United 2-1 in the final. Prestonfield is an excellent ground to visit and well worth the trip.
Wednesday the 16th July see’s Ardrossan Winton Rovers visit Beechwood with a 7.30pm start and after securing their position in the WOSL 1st Division Gavin Friels and Chris McGowan will be looking for a better result than the last time both sides met in a friendly back in December last year where the “Bot” ran out 6-0 winners.
Put the 19th July into your calendar as we embark on the first ever WOSL Charity Cup final when we visit Clydebank with a 2pm kickoff. This is the first season of this cup where the WOSL Champions take on the WOSL League Cup winners, all in the aid of charity. Clydebank will be desperate to scoot through the Lowland League at the first attempt or face teaming up with some old foe’s as the new LL West comes into play during the 2026/27 season.
