Talbot have been quick off the mark in the transfer market by signing experienced goalkeeper William Muir from 2nd Division Lanark United. The 32 year old has a wealth of experience starting at youth level with Aberdeen, Motherwell and Celtic before joining Ayr United in October 2012. He spent a year and a half at Somerset Park before a couple of brief spells at Cumnock and Shotts Bon Accord then joining Queens Park for the first time in July 2014.
He left the “Spiders” two seasons later, signing for East Fife, but after four months had returned to Queens where he stayed until the 19th January 2018 where he signed for Airdrieonians. After half a season with Airdrie he spent the same amount of time with Forfar Athletic. By December 2018 he had joined Kirkintilloch Rob Roy but after three months he had been snapped up by East Kilbride, but by July 2019 he had returned to Queens Park where he spent an eventful three season’s.
He joined his last SFL side Alloa Athletic on the 11th July 2022 spending six months with the “Wasps” before settling down at Lanark United. This season William was selected in the WOSL SM Media goalkeeper of the season for the second division. This was after winning the same award for the third division the previous season
Everybody connected with Talbot would like to welcome William to Beechwood.
Leaving the club will be our two loan players Cory Armour and Kenzie Mitchell who return to their parent clubs. Corey has been a mainstay in the Talbot side for the past season playing 46 games in nets where his performances improved continually as the season progressed. He returns to Kilmarnock for the start of the new season.
Youngster Kenzie Mitchell made sixteen appearances with Talbot due to signing with us late on in the season where he grabbed his only goal of his Talbot career against Beith. Kenzie returns to Ayr United.
We wish both players all the best at their parent clubs and hope that their time at Beechwood was part of their learning curve as they endeavour to make a career in Scottish football.
