Talbot travel to on form Glens

Talbot travel to New Cumnock this Saturday to take on Glenafton who are enjoying one of their best starts to the league season with two wins and a draw. The Glens moved to second in the table last week with a resounding 3-0 thumping of our Ardagh Cup final opponents Kilbirnie on the “Blasties” own patch.

Goals by David Gray, Ally Park and Chris Dallas did the damage in a match that they dominated and could have added a few more as Kilbirnie were continually opened up with some decent play by the Loch Park side. With a home win against Pollok thanks to a single goal by ex-Talbot player Ally Park and a tough 1-1 draw at Kilwinning the Glens will be relishing the return of the Talbot who sneaked a share of the points in the last Ardagh game when Martin McGoldrick headed a last gasp header.

Talbot will have to shake off the disappointment of last week’s 3-0 home defeat by Beith in the William Hill Cup where the Bot gifted all three goals to the Scottish Cup holders. Talbot will have Mark Shankland and Neil McPherson back in contention but unfortunately the game has come to quickly for James Latta who is still suffering from a shoulder injury.

There is no more injury worries for Talbot although Grant Drummond has parted company with the club due to work commitments. Talbot have been recently linked with the out of contract Carlo Monti from Pollok but it’s a case that Talbot are linked to every high profile player up for grabs.

The match kicks off at 2pm and cloud with patchy rain is expected, so bring a brolly.
